SZCZESNY’S TREE OF LIFE AMIDST CERAMICS AT VILLA DOMERGUE

We are delighted to inform you that Stefan Szczesny´s Tree of Life, a 6.50m stainless-steel sculpture, will be on display at Villa Domergue in Cannes this summer. The sculpture will be the highlight of an exhibition featuring several contemporary sculptors and ceramicists in the beautiful gardens of Villa Domergue, overlooking the bay of Cannes. A number of ceramic pieces by Stefan Szczesny will also be shown. In parallel to this, works by the French artist César will be on display inside Villa Domergue. Both exhibitions will open with a drinks reception on July 1 at 17h30.

We cordially invite you to this drinks reception. Please bring along this newsletter for admission.

The “Tree of Life” was originally designed for Stefan Szczesny´s 2014 retrosprective Métamorphoses méditerranéennes at the Palais de Papes in Avignon. Through various botanic elements and female figures attached to an abstract tree sculpture, Stefan Szczesny engages with his signature themes of vitality and joie de vivre.

The “Tree of Life” was funded by COSMO Art & Science Foundation, which is also the owner of the sculpture. The foundation has kindly agreed to loan the sculpture for the exhibition in Cannes.
